Chapter Four

As their mate vanished in the pool surf, Teilo morphed into his wolf and tried to chase them. His only thought was he wanted Raff back where he could see his mate was safe. Unfortunately, he didn’t get very far. Nereus caught him in surprisingly strong arms and dragged him back to shore. “Teilo, change back. My Dad won’t hurt Raff. Raff is safe.”

Teilo growled and struggled in his mate’s arms.

“Dad doesn’t force the unwilling. He’ll try to seduce him but he’s not going to force him. The bastard only took him because he wanted me to follow him. I’ll go get him, Mate.”

Teilo shifted and shook off Nereus’s arms. He wasn’t going to admit how wonderful they felt around him, not with Raff missing. “You’re not going anywhere without me.”

“Not without you.” Nereus seemed shaken, and Teilo could understand. Well, sort of. Having a god for a father who looked more beautiful than anything mortal man could imagine had to be difficult.

“So long as we’re agreed.” Teilo shook the sand off his skin. Damn stuff really did get everywhere. “I need clothes.”

In a blink, he was dressed. Teilo turned to the Fae, who nodded their heads. “Thank you.”

Dean and Matthew stepped forward. “You should take us, too. Raff is going to be upset and I can help with that.”

“And the rest of us.” Troy shook off his mate’s hand. “Anton, you know how I feel about this. Raff is pack. He might need us.”

“Nereus is used to handling his father.” Vassago patted Troy’s arm and turned to Kane, who was frowning hard. “There’s nothing the pack can do in Poseidon’s world. He’s not a predator, a sex addict maybe, but Raff won’t come to any harm. Chances are he just wanted someone to show off his trinkets to. Honestly, I give you my word. Raff’s my brother-in-law’s mate. He won’t come to any harm.”

“It would be better if it was just me and my mate.” Nereus said, “Although I appreciate the support. We’ll bring Raff back, I promise.”

Teilo looked at his mate long and hard. When they’d met, he’d been blown away by the man’s good looks. This morning he’d been stunned by the beauty of his shifted form. Now he was impressed with the sheer resolve on Nereus’s face. It was time to trust. When Nereus grabbed his arm and jumped into the wave he’d summoned, Teilo snapped his mouth shut and prayed his mate remembered he couldn’t breathe underwater.

The water was cold, and Teilo could feel it seep into his bones. When the feeling receded, he and Nereus stood in a long marble hall and Teilo was completely dry, clothes and all. He was stunned although this wasn’t his first experience with magic. What was amazing was the room they were in. Gold and silver ornaments inset with gems gleamed at them from various shelves around the hall. A full-sized ornamental chariot sat in front of them.

“Oh wow...” Teilo turned his head this way and that, trying to take it all in.
